January 2017

Sooo, despite the lack of posting news, I have been very busy making music with some outstanding people and enjoying every minute of it.. or I’m becoming more adept at limiting my memory to the wonderful effects of such interactions.

Here’s some news..

I have been hired by the University of Northern Colorado to an adjunct professor position teaching bass in a new Folk and Bluegrass program beginning in the fall of this year.  It’s pretty exciting to be involved at the onset of this program and working with such a strong faculty, not to mention coming back to a place and many of the same people that added to my musical palette before being swept into the pursuit of music as a way of life.

The Matt Flinner Trio continues to perform and travel bringing the Music Du Jour challenge with us wherever we go, but now we are subjecting special guests to our daily whimsy and musing.  We have been honored to write for the likes of Sam Bush, Dave Douglas, Stuart Duncan, Darol Anger and many more including the upcoming shows in NY with Bruce Molsky and Alex Hargreaves.

Thankfully, Mollie O’Brien and Rich Moore have been coming up with some fantastic projects and inviting me to join.  The latest is new release with their daughters Lucy and Brigid called Daughters.   We will be performing at Wintergrass in Bellevue, WA at the end of February.

Another exciting series of events on the horizon is a Colorado run with Darol Anger’s Republic of Strings in April.  See the shows page.

…AND one more thing.  I am honored to be teaching and performing at the KC Bass Workshop in Kansas City this June 14-18, 2017. Also at the Grand Targhee Music Camp August 6-10, 2017.

More fun to come…
